Consequence of Love

How flames that do illuminate
Are twisted by the fist of fate
They burn and scald the ones we love
As fierce smoke clouds bright skies above -

The flame of love’s ardent desire
Will smolder like a funeral pyre
The glow ablaze in lover’s eyes
Can burn said souls to their demise.

Love with an open heart — please do
And, passion paints a pretty hue-
But fire’s fire and fire burns
So die, for love, these are its terms.
