The music rose up around us, great beads and beats of color
In a world gone mad with silence.
Everything ordered in its arrangement, but wild in its approach.
The sounds bled through my soul like a breeze on a moor,
The smooth notes and somber tones, the subtle harmonies
The silent moments, the idle chords-
The building of the sounds, the creation of the muse
The height of the meter, the chorus of the chords-
The swell of the sound, the weight of the notes,
The softness of the letting go, the smoothness
of the decrescendo, the lapping of the waves, the
Pale moon watching over, the wail of the trumpet -
The silence.
